More and more programs are becoming available to us to use to make content.

Halo 5 Forge on Windows 10. An interesting prospect. Taking cues from Bethesda are we? Not a bad move though. We are seeing more and more developers giving the power of creation over to the players. We have Bethesda with their endless modding community starting all the way back with Morrowind, and still growing strong now with Fallout 4, and sharing those mods to the console versions of the game. Then there is ID with Doom and their amazing Snap Map mode, a beautiful reminder of Time Splitters Map Maker mode. And lets not forget the beauty that is all of these impressive and powerful game engines that are being made more and more accessible to aspiring video game developers such as Unity, Unreal Engine, and CryEngine (which recently released its source code on GitHub).
You guys, it's a great time to get into making video games.
